Solectria Renewables Introduces a New Disconnecting String Combiner
Surge Arrestor, Positive Grounding, Stainless Steel Enclosure and Compression Connection Options
Lawrence, MA – September 10, 2012 – Solectria Renewables, LLC, the leading U.S. PV inverter manufacturer, introduced the new Disconnecting String Combiners (DISCOM’s) today at Solar Power International. The DISCOM allows installers, maintenance crews and first responders to turn off power near the DC source, greatly enhancing PV system safety. The disconnecting string combiners are compliant with UL 1741, CSA C22.2#107.1 and help installers meet the latest National Electric Safety Code (2011 NEC) requirements for de-energizing DC output circuits.
Each of the Disconnecting String Combiners (DISCOM 3R and DISCOM 4) has a UL98B load-break rated switch at the core of the combiner that is capable of safely shutting down the DC homerun circuits, even at full power. The Disconnecting String Combiners are available with 4 to 30 input circuits and are available in NEMA 3R, 4, and 4X enclosures. DISCOM builds on Solectria Renewables’ successful STRCOM product line, proven to perform in the harshest conditions, by providing additional surge suppression, high-reliability compression connection option, live part protection and more space for conduit entry.

Tom Johnson, Combiner and Monitoring Product Manager, will present A String Combiner Designed for Fire Safety on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 10:30am at the Orange County Convention Center, West Concourse, in rooms 311E and F. During this presentation, Mr. Johnson will share insights discovered during the research and development of a smart string combiner system built on the DISCOM design platform.
